Car description

Stunningly finished in Byzantine gold with complimentary black top and black interior, this 1970 deVille convertible will surely impress drivers and onlookers alike wherever you take it. The car is equipped with power windows, power seat, tilt and telescopic steering, AM/FM mono radio, 8 track player (with demo tape from 1970, might I add) and cruise control.
Acquired in October 2016 from a Cadillac collector and Cadillac LaSalle Club member in New Jersey, the car underwent an extensive rehabilitation during his ownership. At that time, the paint was redone, the carpets and leather upholstery were replaced, steering wheel re-cast with new wood and chrome inlay (looks as new), new weatherstripping everywhere, door sill plates, chrome was redone, Truspoke 50 spoke wire wheels and Diamondback radial tires were added, and the convertible top was replaced with new cables, pads, hydraulic pump, and lines. He also had extensive mechanical repairs done. From the invoice I received with the car for mechanical repairs the following was done:
New valve springs, battery cables, motor mounts, blower delay switch, a/c compressor changed, exhaust system, push rods, air filter, new coil springs and shocks at all four corners, wheel alignment, lower control arm bushings, power steering pump and hoses, intake manifold gasket, timing chain, oil pan gasket, freshen up engine compartment, replaced the carburetor, replaced climate control head, belts, hoses, brakes at all four wheels, sway bar end links, thermostat, water pump, rebuilt distributor, points, condenser, rotor, distributor cap, spark plugs and wires, and repair blend door. AC Delco parts were used wherever available.
From what was told to me, the interior was done at Bayside Restorations in Wall, NJ, the chrome done by Atlas Plating in Texas, and mechanical work done at Al-X Repair in Union, NJ.
Shortly after I got the car, the a/c compressor failed. I replaced the a/c compressor with a Pro6Ten unit from Old Air Products along with the condenser, hoses, evaporator, a NOS POA valve, disassembled and cleaned the internals of the expansion valve, and heater core as the system was all apart. Everything was re-assembled with new o-rings, filled with Ester oil, and charged with exactly 4lbs of R-12. The air conditioning system blows cold and the heater blows hot and the climate control unit responds as it should. In addition to overhauling the climate control system, I also had the speedometer serviced and calibrated, installed the correct 1970 Cadillac 8 track unit with the proper harness, replaced the cruise control transducer, replaced all the underhood decals, converted the divorced choke to an electric choke, replaced the speakers with new 10-ohm correct ones from Turnswitch, new headlights, repaired the horn connector under the steering wheel, and completed more detaling under the hood.
As the car sits today, everything functions as it should. All the power windows go up and down from any switch, power seat moves in all directions, clock works (sometimes needs a tap to start and is now on a fused circuit), radio works, cruise control maintains its set speed, climate control is fully functional, all lights in the dash and buzzers work, no shimmies, vibrations, or pulling. Brakes stop extremely well. Parking brake is functional as is the automatic brake release. Headlights, tail lights, reverse lights, cornering lamps, and marker lamps are all good to go. The only thing I can think of not working on the car is the map light. I tried installing a new bulb and that did not work. It either needs a new socket or switch.

This car is ready for your enjoyment today. Put the top down, fill with gas, turn the key, and go (or drive with the top up and the a/c on like I do). Car comes with the owner’s manual with Protect-O-Plate still attached and an original copy of the 1970 Cadillac Shop Manual.
You could not start with a lesser car and duplicate this one for the reserve price. According to the previous owner, on top of the purchase price well in excess of $30000 was spent on the car during his ownership. The invoice I have for the mechanical work he had done was $7000 alone. Selling to pursue an outstanding example of a 77-79 Coupe de Ville or a 77 Town Car or Town Coupe.

Car is located in St. George, NB, Canada only 30 minutes from the US border at Calais, ME and within reasonable driving distance from Boston. If you’re looking to fly in and drive home, the nearest Canadian airport is Saint John, NB – 45 minutes east of me or the nearest US airport is at Bangor, ME. I could pick you up at either location.
If you are having the vehicle shipped, I can assist with delivering the car with my truck and open single vehicle trailer to a transport terminal in New England for an additional fee. I also have a good relationship with our local customs broker to help with the paperwork to bring the car back to the US. The successful bidder will be responsible for brokerage. There should be no import fees or tariffs as this is a US vehicle returning to the USA.
Contact me through eBay for my coordinates should you have any questions. Keep in mind I am in the Atlantic time zone – 1 hour ahead of the Eastern seaboard. I am also available through Skype where we can do a walkaround of the car, I can show you operation of the vehicle and its equipment, and even do a virtual test drive all fromyour computer or smartphone.
