Car description

Here for sale is my 1970 Cadillac Calais 2 door coupe. This was once a show car - the pride and joy of a prominent local Kansas City business owner, who had a custom high gloss jet black paint job done several years ago. The body is dent free, rust free and bondo free. This car has been garaged for its entire life - it remains in excellent condition and still shines like no other car on the road. Other than the custom paint job, this car is in original condition. The hubcaps are Cadillac but non original. The Calais came standard with blackwall tires, and I think the blacks look best on this car with the wire caps.

The car is mechanically sound, and it runs and drives really well. The engine is a big block 472 cubic inch V8 with tons of smooth power. I have been over 100 mph several times and not realized it until I looked at the speedometer. The car has very strong disc brakes that are in good shape, with new front hydraulic lines.

It has new American made General tires, new stereo, and new correct loop carpeting. All power windows go up and down properly. Several spare window switches are included with the sale. The cloth interior is in excellent condition, as is the headliner and door panels. The glass is all good.

New plugs and wires were put on last year. Also, recent front shocks and front end alignment. Battery, hoses and belts are 2 years old. These cars did not come standard with passenger side view mirror, but was an option. I have a new correct NOS factory passenger mirror that will be included with the sale. I recently installed a new correct fitting Retro Sound stereo with 4 new speakers. There are wires run under the new carpet into the trunk as preparation for future subwoofer power and control functions. All of the old radio components are included with the sale.

This is a really nice car in great condition. I know I will never find another one this nice, but I just do not have space for it. The car has a clean KS title and is garaged in Lawrence, KS.

For more information, please call or text 785-760-3480. This car is also listed locally in Kansas City, so the listing may end early. I do not need any help selling this car.

Thanks for looking!

If you are far away and considering a trip to see this car, you will want to know its imperfections, minor as they may be.No real deal breakers, but here they are:

The horn isn’t working at this time.

The factory air conditioning powers on but is weak.

The factory cruise control powers on but is weak.

The passenger side window switch isn’t getting power, it works from the driver’s side.

The Gen light flickers at times.

The telescoping wheel adjusting lever needs to be re-installed.

The dash pad shows a little age on the passenger side.

There are no keys for the door locks.

The brushed chrome window switch plates are showing a little age.

The trunk and door gaskets are all intact but could be replaced.
