Vehicle Overview

In 1966 the "Standard of the World" was once again the leader in luxury, he leader in engineering prowess, nd the epitome of elegance and splendor. The 1966 Fleetwood Sixty-Special Brougham was eloquence on the grand Cadillac scale. The fabulous Fleetwood Brougham was the most luxurious owner-driven Cadillac sedan ever created by General Motors. It was truly the "Cadillac of Cadillac's."The Fleetwood series with all its grandeur was the most revered of Cadillac's offerings. The 1966 Fleetwood Sixty-Special Brougham and its preeminence in the luxury car class was duplicated but never replicated. The Fleetwood Sixty-Special and the Fleetwood Eldorado were the only two non-limousine Cadillac's bodied by Fleetwood coach crafters. The Fleetwood Brougham priced at $6,695 and the Fleetwood Sixty-Special at $6,378, ere the classics that augmented Cadillac's luxury fleet. The Brougham differed from the Sixty-Special, s it came standard with a fully padded vinyl roof treatment, pecial "Brougham" nomenclature, arpeted rear seat foot rests and adjustable reading lamps, alnut trim, nd lighted rear seat writing tables. This distinguished luxury sedan was powered by Cadillac's 429 CID 16-valve OHV V8. The engine produced 340 hp @ 4,600 rpm with 651 Nm of peak torque @ 3,000 rpm. Performance was rated at an impressive 0-60 mph in 8.7 seconds, -100 mph in 24.8 seconds with a top speed of 127 mph. It could do the 1/4 mile @ 87 mph in 16.4 seconds. The engine was mated to GM's Turbo Hydra-Matic THM 400 3-speed automatic transmission. Presented here is one of the finest, owest mile examples of this venerated and highly sought after collectibles in the world. With an astonishingly low 23,731 miles, his may be one of the lowest mile, ost original specimens left on earth. This car was driven off the showroom of Miller-Stephan Cadillac in Boise, daho in the spring of 1966. It was lovingly cared for by a fastidious owner until his passing in the late 1980's. Records affixed to the door jambs in red embossing tape indicate one of the last service performed by that owner was in April, 984. At the time the car had 19,234 miles. The car remained in the family after his passing and was properly stored and rarely driven until it came to me 30 years later, hrough the family's estate, n the fall of last year. Although it was preserved in remarkable original condition when I received it, trophy and lack of use had set in and it required substantial service to get the car back to its original brilliance. The original tires still in the car had dry rot and could not be salvaged. And although the car now sits on new period-correct tires and handsome Tru-spoke wheels, he original wheels and virtually pristine wheel covers will accompany the car. If the new owner prefers the car be delivered with original wheels and hubcaps, credit for the wire wheels can be negotiated. The car's original paint is in stunning original condition. One of the best things about this car is that the brilliant white color was so forgiving over the years, nd was resistant to fading, cratches and heat. And although the front hood indicates it may have been re-sprayed somewhere along the line, here is absolutely zero indication of any collision damage anywhere on this car and its 1966 finish is brilliant, live and reflective. The sides are laser straight and the body side moldings are free from denting, ear and oxidation. And most of all. . . NO RUST! The undersides of the wheel skirts are rock solid and free from any rust or corrosion whatsoever. Even the most careful of owners of that era struggled to protect their beloved Cadillac's from insidious rust, ut this car is 100% free and clear from any rust anywhere, hatsoever. The padded Brougham top is not dried, orn, orn, aded, e-dyed nor disturbed in any way, nd the black color is vivid and full of luster. No bubbling or disturbances under the top as is so common, nd the rubber seals are pliable and intact. The chrome is literally without imperfection and has lost none of its original luster as is the case with the door handles, irrors and the endless trim pieces that adorn the car like jewelry. It is one of the hallmarks of this remarkable original that sets it apart from cars that have been "put back together" verses a true original. The chrome is as day-1 as is free from pitting and hazing anywhere on the car. Note the absence of small bumper dents or inclusions and the eye-popping chrome bezels that surround the factory installed original T-3 headlamps. A thing of beauty to behold. The engine bay is in spectacular original condition and has not been gummed up with the horrible petroleum products and spray paint some use to try to camouflage the true condition of the engine. The engine bay has original ties, arkings and, ith the exception of belts and battery, isplays pretty much as it would have been presented 50 years ago. The under-carriage of any car tells its life story, nd this one reads like a novel of privilege and discipline. The car has clearly been spared from harsh elements of nature and shows the patina and originality of a true 23,000 mile car. No rust anywhere on this American icon which, s lovers of the car know, ere susceptible to frame rust and corrosion. None of that here! As you can see, t is absolutely rock solid and free of rust corrosion and the gunk, il and grime that would be reflective of a higher mile car. Mercifully, he original owner was wise enough to resist the dealer myth about "rust-proofing" the car, o you can see for yourself its magnificent, nvarnished condition. On to the interior: As the images reflect, his interior is one of the nicest original interiors I have seen in all my years of collecting classic cars. Again one true indicators of a car's DNA is the steering wheel, hrome, lass and pedals. This car shows virtually without wear, isuse or neglect. Down to the unused ash trays and carpet that appears to have never been stepped on without the protection of mats, his interior has been protected perfectly over the years. The fabulous wooden waist rails are original, n-restored and absolutely stunning. No cracking or sun damage on the hand-finished genuine walnut door panels or writing desks. Another indicator of this car's provenance is the work-of-art steering wheel which is virtually without any cracking, eparating or wear from rings and other jewelry that beset Cadillac's of the 60's. The expertly stitched headliner has no stains and is free from drooping or discoloration. The visors are taught and the mirrors are clear and undistorted. Little graces which separate this car from others include all four door lock caps which are all intact, riginal and impossible to replace. All eight power windows work perfectly, s does the original antenna, adio, eats and endless array of power accoutrements. Many of my friends in the collector world who have seen this car have remarked about the unusual originality of this "bucket list" car and have commented that it is the finest original they have seen. Truly this is a once in a lifetime example and is sure to find it's place alongside the acclaimed Cadillac's of the late 50's which are now fetching prices in the 6-digit range. Fairly priced at $34,895, his 1966 Cadillac Fleetwood is irreplaceable at any price. Please read my feedback and callJay for your best. Jay 201 232 4040
