Car description

For the handful of people that have been waiting for their opportunity to find a four door Electra T-Type, here is the chance you have been waiting for! For sale is my 1990 Buick Electra T-Type. This was the final year for this body style, the final year for the Buick Electra and certainly the last year for the Electra T-Type. Never plentiful, the 1990 model year saw the fewest examples with, according to my source, only 478 Electra T-Types made that final year! I had been wanting one of these for years and found this car by chance in late 2017. I purchased the car in Sacramento, CA and had it shipped to North Texas where it remains today. I have only put 400 miles on this car since I have owned it. Ambitious as I was at the time of purchase, it is now evident that I don't have the time to start rehabilitating this most worthy example. The car has only 97,805 miles! It is almost impossible to find one of these period much less with under 100K on the odometer. The engine starts first time every time and runs smooth as silk, hot or cold. The transmission shifts smoothly through all gears including overdrive as intended with no shudder. The steering remains very stable and the car drives straight and quiet down the road. All electric windows, door locks, cruise and automatic trunk pull down operate.
The items specific to the T-Type remain very nice on this car such as: T-Type specific amber/red tail lamps, dual outlet muffler with nice exhaust rumble, front amber signal lens, leather wrapped steering wheel, center console, overhead console, T-Type badges (one is missing on the driver's B-pillar) and the wonderful full gauge package with tachometer! The T-Type interior has survived very nicely with clean bucket seats in light gray cloth. The paint on the top surfaces, especially the roof and deck lid, has significant clear coat flaking however, the side surfaces still look quite nice. Of course there are the usual and customary blemishes with a 29 year old, used car - just ask for any specifics. Please look at the photos closely.
Now for keeping things real: Please note, although the transmission works beautifully, the transmission pan gasket leaks fluid generously and makes a mess on the garage floor. The T-Type was fitted standard with a Teves Antilock Brake System which currently has the ABS light glowing. The pump runs for about 15 seconds when you first turn the key on and then it stays off until you press the brake at which time you hear an additional 3 second pump actuation. I suspect the accumulator ball needs to be replaced however, that has not been professionally diagnosed. The brakes do stop the car smoothly, but the glowing ABS light is not a confidence builder. The windshield is cracked across the line of vision and will need to be replaced. The headliner is drooping badly. I have not gotten the a/c to turn on, but I have not tried to diagnose it. It is evident that it has been converted to R134a and it does still have a some refrigerant in the system. The heater works great, as does the automatic temperature control unit. The Delco radio sounds staticky and poorly. Finally, although I have no real fear for this issue, I have noticed recently that if the car sets for a couple of weeks, although it starts right up cleanly, within two or three minutes I occasionally get some blue smoke out of the tail pipe. It has never occurred immediately upon start up and it still does not occur if the car is started every few days. After any episode of smoke has cleared, it remained clear and smoke-free for the duration of the drive or day. I have considered both the PCV and oil galleys as possibly having sludge. This remains undiagnosed, but I definitely want to be transparent in everything I know about the car. Please note that the engine has fabulous oil pressure regardless of engine temperature. Likewise, the engine runs at proper operating temperature with the electric cooling fan working only as needed. The idle is always smooth and steady.
There is so very much going for this rare car that I hope the right person finds this ad. If only spare time was more plentiful, the car would not be for sale. But, all things said, I am offering this rare, 29 year old car for sale AS IS with absolutely NO WARRANTY of any kind. If the car successfully sells, I do require a $500 deposit within 48 hours of close of the auction which can be made payable through PayPal. The remainder of the winning sales price will need to be fully paid within 7 days of the close of the auction. I will accept a Money Order/Cashiers Check from a fully recognized financial institution that is locally accessible to me. Cash is, of course, always accepted. Regardless, all funds will have to be fully cleared before the car will be released. Shipping will be the Buyer's responsibility, but I will be happy to assist any way that I can. I truly believe I have this car very realistically priced with regards to its condition, rarity and potential. PLEASE ask ANY questions before you bid. I want you to be informed and confident with your decision. I am sure you will think of things I have not, so please ask! Thank you for looking at my Buick Electra T-Type!
