The car had undergone a complete frame-off restoration in the late 1990's in Nevada before the museum purchased the car. I have all the original paperwork, amphlets and photos of the restoration. I wanted to keep the car as original as possible so that it was not butchered. What started as a "I'll just fix this a little" turned into a complete obsession with making sure everything on the car was done correctly. The 12 volt conversion was done using Runtz from Speedway on all the instrument clusters as not to burn them out. The engine was removed and a plate from bendstens was applied to marry the 700R4 to the original motor. There was a lot of additional upgrades here from Lokar as none of the kickdown cables, rackets or shift levers were hobbled together. I wanted it all done right so it was. No expense was spared on the car. While the motor came out I figured I might as well do all the gaskets which soon became cutting the head down to increase horsepower, pgrading the Valves, tems, prings and pistons. This led to grinding the cam gently and while this was out I opted to trash the bulky exhaust manifold in favor of a custom set of headers and dual stainless steel pipes all the way to the back. Obviously new plugs, ap, otor and wires along with the electronic points upgrade to avoid points adjustment. The battery is a red top Optima and it was moved to the front behind the grill teeth. All the engine chrome was redone at Frankford Chrome in Philadelphia. The radiator is the same except the core was replaced with a 4 core. Top and bottom were kept original. The 700R4 was completely rebuilt part for part from the ground up. The driveshaft is 100% custom made and far more durable than it needs to be. It was made by a company that builds racing driveshafts for semi trucks in Limerick, A. The rear is from a 3rd generation Camaro and the ladderbar, arms, hock mounts, pring mounts and all other connection components were custom built and installed professionally. The transmission gear selector is polished aluminum and made by Ididit with help from Lokar and speedway motors components. Everything works and everything has been road tested for the past 3 years. No "major" work was done after that point with the exception of the top motor which was just replaced last month. It's truly a turn-key car that's safe to go anywhere. I just recently showed it at the Ventura California National show and drove it there from Hollywood a good 1.5hrs away on the freeway. She drove like a dream.
