1983 BMW e28 533i Documented 72K miles Graphite, Black leather interior. 5spd LSD

Please ask any questions before bidding/making a purchase. If you're interested in bidding and have a feedback score of 10 or less please contact me to discuss the car or I'll cancel your bid.

I'm starting with a stupid low start bid but reserve the option to end the auction early if it doesn't approach the sale price I'm looking for, if you're interested in that number send me a message.

1983 BMW 533i, 3 owners and a California car it's entire life, still carries the original CA Blue plates.

It's an early production date of 03/83 and considered to be the e28 to have due to the cars lighter overall weight, hotter camshaft and lightweight flywheel.

Very straight overall with only a couple of body issues as noted below.

Car is rust free EXCEPT OF THE AREAS OUTLINED BELOW< PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. I WASN'T ABLE TO ADD MORE IMAGES AND WANTED TO REPRESENT THE CAR FAIRLY, I HAVE MORE IMAGES OF THE THREE AREAS THAT HAVE RUST ISSUES, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK, I'M HAPPY TO FORWARD THEM AND ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS.

Local buyers who are interested are welcome to come see/drive the car or a buyer can arrange a PPI local to me with a BMW repair shop that knows the older cars, very local to me and well respected.

Recent work done;

BMW e38 style 5 wheels (5mm spacers in front), no rash or any issues with the wheels. Michelen AS3 Pilot Sport tires (less than 2K miles)

New cap/rotor (Bosch)

Plugs

Valve adjustment

Runs cool (10-11 O'clock on the temp gauge, rarely at the ½ mark unless in high temps and sitting in traffic.

It's in almost 100% original condition except for the wheels and drivers seat (original seat available but needs to be refinished, a good core is included with the sale and is in excellent condition mechanically, ready to be recovered in the original Black leather from the original seat which is in very good condition.

This car runs and drives like a low mile example is supposed to. Steady idle, pulls incredibly strong up to redline in all forward gears, shifts extremely smooth.

I've owned it for just 2.5 years, adding only 2000 miles, the plan was to convert it to a euro spec with euro bumpers/lights and then use it very sparingly.

My recent acquisition of another e28 necessitates the sale of this gem.

A time capsule waiting for someone to take it to the next level and either flip it for HUGE money or hang onto it and watch the value increase.

See results of unrestored and restored examples of recent sales of similar cars on BAT and you'll understand the value in this car.

The car needs paint, mostly on the top panels and has only a couple of dents/dings and light rust as shown in the last images, please ask if you're interested in more detailed images.

Everything but the A/C is working, gauges/electronics/windows/cruise/radio all work... Regarding the A/C, I filled the original system with air blaster and it held pressure for a while but it did leak out, it did blow cold when it was filled. I've removed the A/C belt and have not addressed the system.

It still needs a few cosmetic issues addressed to be a really nice car but they are minimal and expected for the age and price point I'm looking for.

The car doesn't need anything at the moment if you're looking for a super low mile driver, hop in and go. Last year I drove it down to San Diego and logged almost 1K miles, it ran flawlessly and was a blast to drive, didn't use a drop of oil or any other fluids.

It's not perfect but the negative points I'll address here.

1)Needs paint

2)Only a couple of tiny dings, 1 shallow dent behind the drivers rear wheel and a dent in the roof on the back corner drivers side

3)It has rust in the following spots, no other areas on the car have rust. Strut housings/strut towers/floors/undercarridge are rust free.

1) Under the passenger hood vent, there is a small area of rust that has developed; the covers that are supposed to cover the underside of the vents hide this.

2) On the inside of the doors, in the door jams. This is limited to the doors only and is very light; it's actually covered by the door seal. I tried to capture the areas as best I could. THIS IS ON BOTH FRONT DOORS ONLY.

3) Rear door, about a $0.25 size spot of rust below the door latch near the seal

4) A couple of the headlights lenses are fogged, easy fix

5) Kidney grill has dings/dents

4) Dash has a few cracks

5) Missing trunk tools
