Car description

1965 Austin-Healey Sprite Mk III

MOVING SALE: This 1965 Austin-Healey Sprite Mk III. This vehicle underwent amechanical refurbishment including new suspension and braking parts, tube shock and spin-on oil filter conversions, replacement cooling parts, and more. Power is from a 1,098cc inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transmission in place of the factory four-speed, and the car is finished in green over black. This Sprite is offered with a Haynes manual, a soft top, and a clean California title on hand.

The exterior is finished in green and features a chrome front bumper with overriders, a pair of fender-mounted bullet mirrors, Classic Gold reproduction halogen headlights, and reproduction black California license plates.

Minilite-style wheels wear MG center caps and 13″ Tracmax tires. A removable soft top is included in the sale.

The interior features a leather-wrapped aftermarket steering wheel, a wood shift knob, and black vinyl-upholstered seats with white piping.

The 1,098cc A-Series inline-four sends power to the rear wheels through a Ford T9 five-speed manual gearbox installed with a kit from Moss Motors (Kit cost $3,995.00). A Mini Spares intake manifold with a single SU carburetor takes the place of the factory dual carburetor setup, and a fuel pressure regulator has been added. The following new items were also included in the refurbishment:

  • Starter and electronic ignition
  • Radiator, six-blade plastic fan, and heater valve
  • Pulley damper
  • Fuel pump
  • Rear oil seal conversion kit
  • Spin-on oil filter adapter

The suspension was rebuilt with new bushings, and a tube shock conversion kit was installed at the front. The brakes have been overhauled, including installation of stainless steel lines.

I bought the vehicle with all the work and restorations already done. The only issue was the clutch fork that was not proper so I paid $920 last week for it to be replaced to a new one (receipt is available)

Interior is in fair condition. I was going to restore it for $750 but no point at this time since I had to sell it.

Lots of money has been invested in this car. It gets all the wows and the thumbs up when driven around. Drive it around or show it. Its all fun.
