Car description

Up for sale is my 1985 Alfa Romeo Spider. It's in beautiful preserved condition. with no rust issues. a fully-overhauled engine with 3500 miles on it. new tires with 800 miles on them. and a color-matching fiberglass hard top in excellent condition. I am only the 2nd owner — This car spent 12 years of it's life in a climate-controlled garage without being driven. The original owner bought the car at Thoroughbred motors in Nashville. kept it perfectly maintained until 2001. when he suffered a stroke and died 12 years later. All that time this car sat. under-cover. in a climate-controlled garage. My wife and I love to go to the Drive-In Spring-thru-Fall. and watch movies under the stars. It gets lots of looks and waves. even at classic car get-togethers. The engine. which my Italian mechanic recently overhauled. runs strong and FAST. This car sounds as good as it looks. but isn't overly-loud. I will miss this car. but I'm wanting to use this money to buy something I can tinker with myself (MG / Triumph / Austin Healey). 1985 was the first year for electronic fuel injection for the Alfa Romeo. and that's over my head. Below. I'll list what all I've had done to the car. along with other items of interest. The shop I use is the #1 Italian car shop in Nashville. I'll miss going there and seeing all the old Fiats. Ferraris. Alfas. etc. 1. Engine: Total overhaul. including all new belts. hoses. gaskets. etc. 12 years in a garage was tough on those hoses and gaskets. 2. Clutch and brakes / brake lines in excellent shape. 3. Gas tank replaced. 4. Electronic ignition installed to help the car start faster and more reliably. ---5. Heater works great. and keeps the car toasty even in the winter. along with the hard top. 6. I installed a nice JVC radio with iPod USB hookup. I'm also including $300 removable speakers that sit behind the Driver/Passenger seats. 7. I'm including the Owner's manual. along with the sun visors. which I removed. The sun visors just get in the way of the view when the top is down. in my opinion. 8. This car drives really smooth and fast. I was coming home on from work late one night on the interstate. and noticed I was going 115. 9. I want to stress that there are no rust issues at all with this car. The rocker panels. wheel wells. door jams. etc — It's solid. 10. The dashboard is in excellent shape with No Cracks. I am including a dashboard cover that was made for this model specifically. 11. The pool ball you see on the steering wheel is called a Suicide Knob. and has been used for decades on cars without power steering to make it VERY easy to parallel park and take tight corners. 12. The Fabric Soft Top is in Excellent shape. It was replaced 2 years ago. Other items of note: Needs new gear shift boot — the original has torn over time. The transmission is strong. but 2nd gear is a "little" crunchy now and then. which is fairly common (a synchromesh issue) and reverse is weak - you need to lightly hold the stick in reverse. which you get used to pretty quickly. Odometer stopped working when my mechanic overhauled the engine. It has had another 3500 miles on it since then. There's much more. but suffice it to say that my mechanic has got it more than road-worthy. I drive this car to work on nice days. even in the winter.
